The traffic noise was intrusive, but unavoidable. It did not spoil our stay.Staff were friendly and helpful, and the meals were very enjoyable.

We found this hotel very spotlessly clean and very friendly staff. The food was excellent and well cooked . Good choice for breakfast and an excellent choice for night time meals. They also do afternoon tea . Ideal position for the m27 .Will definitely stay here again .

The hotel was a little dated, but lovely and clean. The double room was a little on the small size and the shower cubicle a bit of a squeeze, but it suited our needs for our short stay.Nice and clean room, fresh towels daily. The lovely chap serving us at breakfast and check out was friendly and professional. He was very apologetic when their chef was delayed for start of breakfast.Breakfast was served nice and hot, freshly cooked.Overall a pleasant stay.

My wife and I came back from France, arriving on a late night ferry and wanted an overnight stop before driving up to the Midlands the next day. Initially we missed the hotel, so perhaps a clearer notice would be better. There was a friendly welcome and all staff were cheerful and helpful. A comfortable and clean room and an excellent breakfast to start the day.

A very nice hotel on the edge of Portsmouth/Southampton.We booked a double room and to our surprise it was 2 single beds fixed together so plenty of room. The hotel is situated next to a busy roundabout but we were very tired and didn’t affect our sleep. What can I say about the food?We had dinner and breakfast both of which were plentiful, a large selection on the menus and tasted amazing. And even better we’re very reasonably priced. To make our stay even better, all the staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.Great for a stay to visit the cities.

What do you want for £60, which included breakfast! The room was OK, the mattress was OK, pity the room was at the front of the property as I was awoken at 0545 by the traffic. However that did not put us off and would definitely stay here again. All the staff were super friendly and the choice of meals from their menu was good.If they read this review please please change your choice of sausages at breakfast as they were the only item which neither of us touched, yuk.

The hotel was well located for our stay. The staff were very pleasant and our room was lovely and warm and not noisy, considering its location on the roundabout. The full English breakfast was thoroughly enjoyed and the only disappointment was the tired bed in our room. It bowed in the centre meaning we rolled into each other throughout the night. I would expect far more from a hotel and they need to repair or replace the bed.

We were perfectly happy with our short stay over Christmas except for the "event" that took place on Christmas eve. The noise was too much with a continual blast of drum & bass that eventually finished at 11.15pm.We were in room 1 immediately above the music & it felt as if we were in the middle of it.What a relief when it finished.A tasty breakfast each day.

I think this a great find at a good price . Old hotel,no frills , but very clean and cozy . Room spotless and had everything needed for an enjoyable stay . Nice little bar area , with open fire . We had a full English breakfast which was cooked fresh and bought to our table piping hot . We took our dog with us , there is a small charge for this , but we didn’t mind . Some of the bigger chain hotels could learn from this hotel , with their extortionate prices . We will return

Stayed last weekend and the place was full of cobwebs ,spiders and ghouls. We had lunch on Saturday which was well presented, well cooked and more than sufficient without being gargantuan. The first floor room was small but contained all that was required and we certainly slept well.Breakfast was fulsome and the choices were good. Staff were friendly, helpful without being condescending on what was halloween weekend.Cost of drinks were very reasonable — no £7 per pint for beer thankfully.Would certainly used the hotel again.

From the young man who went to great pains to explain how to find our room, bar staff and waitress' all staff very friendly & professional. The breakfast was comprehensive and absolutely lovely ( coffee lovers will be disappointed but that's a minor point). The room was compact and basic but linens & towels clean and bed comfortable.Plenty of hot water for the shower ( compact). All you could want for an overnight stay.

Stayed for one night, two family rooms.Start with the positives, the Breakfast was one of the best I have had! Included in the price & plenty to choose from including vegetarian options, plenty of juice and tea & coffee, staff was also very helpful and friendly.Inside the rooms, the bed was comfortable and large, bit noisy if your room is facing the road but that’s to be expected. The only bad points was the cleaning, the bathroom was not clean, the shower head was filthy, under the skin which you could see if you was laying in the bath had visible dirt and marks. The overall finish of the bathroom wasn’t great bad plastering ect around the bath door, the soap dispenser was hanging off the wall. Just needed a better scrub when cleaning the bathroom. Also no shampoo or conditioner was a bit disappointing.Overall good for what we needed but definitely a 2*

The Staff were wonderfully helpful and found an extension cable for my CPAP machine in the night. It was a very, very hot spell and they had thoughtfully provided a table top fan. The secondary glazing was open and also brought relief and we were not disturbed by noise.Wife nearly got locked in the bathroom as the door was very hard to open but I thought I had better rescue her!!The glass shelf over the narrow sink made it very difficult to clean our teeth. The shower water was plentiful and hot.Having prearranged, we were very kindly served our English breakfast in advance of the normal time as we had to catch a ferry. It was certainly fresh as well as beautifully presented and delicious too.You certainly went the extra mile for us!Thank you. Lovely old building. When we checked in there was nobody on reception. We rang the bell and a very cheerful lady appeared quite quickly. She did offer to show us to our room, but there was no need as it was fairly simple to find.We stayed in bedroom 6, which was small, and the bed wasn't very comfortable. However for the price we paid, including breakfast, was good value for money. There was cereal and juice for breakfast and a choice of full English or continental. We asked for extra tea, which was no problem. The guy that took our order, remembered my choice the next day and was very helpful,as was the lady on the second morning, who brought the breakfast out. Having read the reviews on TripAdvisor the day before our stay, I wasn't expecting much, but was very happy with the service and the room was very clean. Not sure why the secondary double glazing window had been removed, but we had no trouble sleeping. Only a 10 minute walk to the centre of Fareham,so a great location.

We only stayed one night but the room was nicely decorated and comfortable. Had a drink at the bar and the owner was friendly and helpful.Breakfast in the morning was good - eggs poached and very nice.A little basic in presentation of breakfast things but it was no real bother.Good value stay for us.Thanks very much.

Needed an overnight stay close to family, arriving late in the evening just to sleep and this suited us fine. Easy parking, large clean room and hot water for bath , with tea and coffee facilities.Slept well and not overly troubled by road noise or fireworks. Enjoyed a freshly prepared and tasty, hot cooked breakfast. Will be returning with our dog next time.Only suggestion would be: more forthcoming with breakfast items please. Had to ask for top ups of hot drinks and were not offered any toast or juice.Overall very happy with our stay and found it to be excellent value for money.

Late booking but really pleased with the quality of the hotel, the decor and carpets all looked new. Room was clean and comfortable as expected, no complaints. TV could do with a retune to get BBC1, minor issue. Breakfast was included in my price and was lovely and set us up for a days sight seeing. Unexpected bonus that there was entertainment in the bar and we were invited to sit at a spare table - The Greatest Showman set was fantastic, really enjoyed it.

I needed somewhere easy and comfortable for one night: I read the reviews and this little place didn't disappoint. My room was clean and I believe freshly refurbished SO all good. However the service I received was first class! the young lady working on Tuesday evening, checked me in, showed me to my room ( you usually only get that in 5 stars!) And then looked after me at dinner. Dinner was superb. The young chap at breakfast is equally courteous and provided fab service!I dont know the name of either of the team members who were on duty during my stay but please do say thankyou to them for me

The hotel is an interesting building run by Adrian and Gemma who provided a superb and welcoming reception, good food and a flexible response to any requests.Although some aspects of the property would benefit from an upgrade, the attitude of the staff adequately compensates for any shortfall in the fabric of the building.

The roundabout hotel is a quaint building, situated within easy reach of Fareham town centre. The building is old, and the interior could be described as a little “tired”, but - make no mistake - it is perfectly clean and comfortable. The bar boasts a real fire - very cosy!!The owners, Adrian & Gemma, are friendly and professional - they have responded well to the challenges imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic and are maintaining a full restaurant and bar service (with sensible protective measures in place).Adrian is clearly a professional chef. His food is superb - a prime example traditional, high-quality british home cooking with fresh vegetables in abundance! The quality of his cooking is outstanding and yet all dishes on the extensive menu are reasonably priced (e.g. Duck a l’orange for around £15 - or you can have a pie, or burger, for correspondingly less if you’re on a budget).Gemma is the perfect host - attentive and thorough but also jovial and friendly. Her breakfast service put me in a great mood for the start of each day of my weeks stay!I would thoroughly recommend the Roundabout Hotel to anyone who needs to stay in the Fareham or Lee-on-the-Solent area and who may be on a tight budget - their prices are so reasonable.

We were down for a family funeral, and needed somewhere close to the event. The staff were lovely and friendly, the room was small but clean, and the food was very good on the a la carte menu, but the pub menu was average pub grub level. No complaints really except we were in the front rooms and it was very noisy from the traffic all the time, as the secondary glazing that would have quietened it down had been removed. Would ask for a rear facing room if I stayed again.

Looking for a local hotel near gosport & fareham we booked into the oldy worldy Roundabout Hotel. Very helpful staff and lovely accommodation along with a great pub/bar and casual restaurant serving till 9pm.The food we had both at night and for breakfast was very good. One criticism the bathroom needed some attention other than that we look forward to using the hotel again, maybe one of the entertainment nights looks good to try.

We were made very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our 6 nights at The Roundabout Hotel. The breakfasts were excellent- freshly made to order and cooked to perfection. Convenient for walking or picking up the bus into Fareham and the surrounding towns and villages.

5 of us (2 adults, 3 children) stayed at The Roundabout. Friendly staff, on-site, parking, clean room with en suite and breakfast included. This was exactly what we wanted and close to Portsmouth for activities. Thank-you Roundabout 😊

Stayed for two nights to visit portsmouth and surrounding areas. Family room was basic but had everything we needed. Given a quiet family room so we couldnt hear maintenance work that was supposed to be happening through the night. Didnt hear anything. Beds comfy, cot supplied. Great full english breakfast, Bar and restaurant has a kids play corner with tons of toys. Kept our kids occupied for ages. Staff welcoming and helpful. Would definitely come again when we next come to the area, will definitely recommend to others

A two night business stay was made into an occasion by the bar staff and the meals I enjoyed.eveyone made me feel very welcome and part of the family. Callum deserves a special mention for his unstinting attention to detail and helpfulness, nothing was too much trouble, including not only getting my TV working but leaving it on the right channel for me!The bedroom was a bit tired, the bathroom had decidely grimey parts to it but room rates were very reasonable so on balance, not too bad.And the food was exceptionally tasty.

Great location for business use and if in need of motorway access. Free parking too. The rooms are basic but the price reflected that. I wanted something cheap n cheerful, I got that. Overall I cannot complain and won't complain because I did get exactly what I paid for.

First time travelling with two dogs and this hotel will be a godsend for us. Staff made us totally welcome , spoilt the dogs and us. Lovely , large, spotless room ; en suite bit small but had everything. Good pub food in bar where dogs allowed and made us very quick cooked breakfast. Nearby good places to walk and less than 15 mins to Portsmouth ferry. We will be back for every trip .

Made very welcome on arrival. All staff friendly and worked together.Breakfast and service was very good.Room was very clean.Only down fall was onn the Sunday morning at breakfast went to the gentlemans toilets but had to go to my room as there was water all around the toilet and sick up the back of the toilet. We were aware that there had been a big party on the night before but would have expected the pub toilets to have been the first job of the day.I quietly mentioned to staff about this and she arranged them to be cleaned straight away.I had noticed though a lady member of staff dressed different to the rest carry a clean mop head. Then she was in and out of the kitchen helping with breakfast. This is the lady that was sent to clean the dirty gents toilet.wether or not after that she continued to help with breakfasts in and out of the kitchen I dont know as we left before she came back in.Other than that we could not fault our stay at all.Thank you xx

Initially after calling to see if there were any rooms available the response was: no we are full I’m afraid!I went on to booking . Com and I fact found they had 3 single rooms available. So i gratefully booked on line then contacted the hotel and they said sorry we were looking at the wrong date! Ate last I got a room in the end. The hotel is quite dated but for some reason I liked the quirky look of the hall ways.... the room is dated but clean, I would recommend putting a chair in the room though I was in 7. Overall for the price it did the job for a night

Although the hotel rooms were tired and dated, they were clean and comfortable. The food was extremely good and the portions huge. Fresh vegetables with the meal and a bottle of water provided on the table. xWe were moving house and unfortunately the packers ran over. As the kitchen shut at 2100 I rang at 2055 and ordered a meal over the phone, nothing was too much trouble. The chef even hung around to see if we wanted dessert.I know the rating seems high for the hotel as for some road noise and the tired decor would dispute this, however for once I am basing this review entirely on the welcome we received, the service we had and the staff who could not have been more friendly or helpful.Would I stay here again, yes, would I eat here again, certainly. Not an undiscovered gem but a place to rest your weary head and refuel your body.xThank you to all the staff who made a stressful couple of days bearable.

A little difficult to find the entrance to the car park, which is behind the hotel and accessed off a very busy roundabout, and then requiring a sharp turn almost immediately after turning off the roundabout.I would suggest that the hotel should provide a diagram showing how to get to the hotel, for all future bookings, but the staff are extremely friendly, the bedding was spotlessly clean and helpful and the breakfast was very good.We were given a room at the front of the hotel, overlooking the main road, which made it quite noisy as there was quite a lot of traffic both late at night and early in the morning and would recommend asking for a future booking. However, I would have no doubts about using it again for any future visits to the Portsmouth area, as it constituted quite good value for money.

Friendly quirky small hotel.Room lovely and clean, small( due to late booking and they were busy)No bother to them that we have a dog.We took the bed headboard off as it was was noisey when you touched it and annoying when on the bed.The bed needs to be replaced with a decent new one as for older people it was painfully uncomfortable on arthritic joints. The breakfast was great you could have what you wanted cooked how you want.We just needed a place to sleep so room size not an issue, would use this hotel again.

Initially I was a bit cheesed off, as on my arrival, you can see the hotel but there is no visible entrance and due to the road lay out you are forced on a small detour. As you approach the hotel you throw a left and a sharp right to a service road. There is a sign but if there is traffic at junction you cannot see it.Room and hotel clean. Room a bit dated price reasonable. Breakfast very good. Staff friendly and more than helpful. Bar reasonably priced with friendly locals. Again staff friendly and helpful. Two foreign travellers came in after 11pm looking for rooms. Hotel full. Staff rang round 6 other hotels/ B&Bs in the area to help.

Friendly service; breakfast was great, as was the dinner on the first evening of my stay. The room change was no problem and handled very well. The bathrooms let the hotel down; I stayed in two rooms during my stay, and there really wasn't any difference between the bathrooms in either. There is mould in every corner, the ceiling in room 1 is just an eyesore. Awfully-applied mastic sealant just about everywhere gives the impression of being in a third-world set-up. Some moneyneeds to spent on renovating the bathrooms and bringing them up to a standard that welcomes you inside, rather than making one feel dirty upon entry. You don't need baths - create more space by just having showers, tile as far as possible with decent- quality soft-shade tiles and replace old washbasins with wall-mounted modern type. Five thousand pounds per bathroom? If you did that, the hotel would be really, really great.

Stay for a single night Sept 2016.Have used this hotel before and was satisfied hence this second visit.Stay was pre booked. Hotel well organised so arrival process quick and simple.Quality of the evening meal was excellent. Obviously high quality chef serving generous portions.Breakfast also well cooked with prompt service.Room satisfactory and comfortable although ensuite was a little cramped.Note lots of stairs - probably not ideal for anyone having difficulty walking. Will use this hotel again.

Very easy to find. On site car parking. Very friendly & helpful staff. Good room - unusually so for a single room. Would stay again.

I have to say the full English breakfast was gorgeous. A really good quality sausage and proper coffee. The bed in our room was huge but sadly rather saggy in places so not too good for my poor back. Despite the hotel being situated right on the roundabout there was no discernable road noise to disturb us. We would stay here again.

A very comfortable hotel. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was very clean and catered for all our needs. The resturaunt provided a good menu of wonderful well cooked food. Which was value for money. All the staff are a credit to the owners. It is a convenient hotel to stay for visiting the area.

This was a last minute booking for my wife and I to visit the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth and as a result most hotels were either fully booked or out of our price range.I booked 3 nights at the Roundabout Hotel and while other reviewers have stated that the hotel is a bit tired/run down, we found that things were not nearly as bad as some had reported and our room was clean and perfectly functional which is all that is required of a budget hotel! The Hotel has a really great bonus in that all of the staff are very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The food is excellent with a nicely cooked full English breakfast to start the day and really good value food in the bar/restaurant in the evening. We would definately stay here again in the future.

Check in was easy, staff was very friendly, and room was comfortable with the 'old England' charm. The location is convenient, but as a novice driving in the UK, I was challenged to select the correct driveway on the roundabout, and had to wind around several pathways to get back to the hotel entrance. Services are within walking distance. Met our expectations.

Hotel was very convenient, food and service good. Al La Carte menu very good, shame we were not told about it on our first night. Our son's single room WS very small. Our Room adequate. Bathroom very small with no space for toiletries - a shower would have been more practical. Location on roundabout made traffic noise a problem.

We needed a hotel that was close to the ferry port as we had an early ferry to catch plus we have two small dogs and The Roundabout Hotel could cater for this. Had a lovely evening meal in the bar area where dogs are permitted. Also, as we had an early get away ( to early for breakfast) they made us up some sausage sandwiches the night before to take with us.

Good value for money for a brief stopover - 10 mins drive from ferry at night and late check-in made it ideal for us. Noisy if window open. Good breakfast and friendly service.

Staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Room was great - clean and tidy.Had to have the window open all night because of hot weather and found the traffic noise was very loud because of its location on a roundabout which was used to access a major road along the Portsmouth/Southampton coastline. good value for money.

Polite helpful and friendly staff. More choice would have been nicer for breakfast, more choice of fruit and some yogurts on the menu would have been better, probably a continental breakfast with cheeses and cold meats would have been good. English fried breakfast was very good. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable with nice bedding but the carpet was a little grubby. Car parking was a little tight but ok.

The hotel is very easy to find since it overlooks a roundabout on local main roads. There was ample parking available; we stayed over a Sat night with no problem but as the hotel contains a bar and restaurant I suppose it's poss that you could return in the evening and find the car park full of pub customers' cars. However there's additional parking outside the front and nearby. Service was tops from the word go with a very willing and helpful attitude. Room had all the usual facilities in working order and the bathroom / toilet was clean and comfortable to use. Breakfast was good with a set of menu varities and the hot food was hot! No complaints from me about this establishment; I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at the Roundabout overnight before catching the 7.00 ferry to France. It makes no pretensions of being a Ritz or a Savoy and the room was comfortable and perfectly adequate for the price. We dined there too and had a rather good chicken and mushroom pie. We were leaving too early for breakfast but we were offered (and accepted) a round of sandwiches each to take with us on the journey - there was a wide choice and they were very good too. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

I booked one night's stay, with just a couple of hours notice. Whilst the building is somewhat tired, and a must for Artex fans, the staff were fantastically helpful in every way. Good breakfast too - would use again to avoid the "plastic" alternatives.
Reviewer: Steve P | Tue 23rd Jun 2015 | 9 years ago
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff made up for the odd quirks such as the tight squeeze around a generously sized large bed; and, given the age of the building, there is of course no lift. But dinner was good and breakfast was good; the proximity of the motorway was not a problem and this is a well located stop over for cross channel ferries etc.

Booked to be near my Son who trains in Gosport. Family room even though we booked asa couple. Load of stairs up so would not have suited anydisabled. Plenty big enough. The decor is tired throughout (though they are starting to paint downstairs and tidy up outside) and in some places the 70/80s décor needs to be binned and refurbished. The bedroom we stayed in had mould on thebathroom ceiling and the shower screen was well past it. Thefiited cupboards old and tired and the large wall tiles very 80's. The room was very clean and cleaned before our second night. The pub part had plenty of ambience, good real ales and was very friendly. The food very good. The cost I feel reflected its tired interior though a Premier Inn room would compete. There was traffic noise, being near a large roundabout, even though the windows were closed and the traffic started at 4am. It is also close to a 4rain line. I would stay there againfor the ambience in the bar and the food providing they do not put the prices up as you do not get the locals friendly feel in a Prem Inn pub. I booked thro booking.dot.com which allowed flexibility once booked up to 14 hrs before which you would not get with a Saver rate in a Prem inn (non refundable).

I recently stayed at this Hotel which was a first. I was treated by friendly staff and was made very welcome. The room was clean and I had a change of bedding and towels every day. The food is excellent with a varied and reasonably priced menu. Breakfast was included in the price and was also very good. Thank you for a pleasant stay and I will use this Hotel again.

My dad is in very poor health so I took him away for the weekend(11/04/2015)with all the family. Staff prepered a room for him and even provided a shower seat specially. The restaurant food was very well done and at a good price. Service was very good. The waitress at breakfast was on the ball and took orders immediately. No complaints about breakfast food, again nicely done. The hotel is basic but clean and friendly and staff go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. Excellent for the money. Thanks Roundabout Hotel.

Overall a good experience. Booking was easy and they were happy to accommodate early check in at short notice. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was better quality than at may other hotels at similar price.Room itself is tasteful. However, furniture a bit dated and the headboard was dusty. Small niggles.

The hotel is easy to access, we appreciated the private parking just by the hotel taht was for free. Friendly staff helped us with our luggage to get it to the room. Room was clean and tidy, only the temperature in the room was little bit colder. They serve nice and tasty meals for dinner as well as for breakfat.

Visited end Feb for a Saturday night as a family of three and 6m old puppy and needed somewhere that welcomed dogs.Pleasant stay. Staff welcoming and helpful and dog welcomed in bar where we had lunch on Saturday and was able to join us for breakfast on Sunday - made a fuss of by most staff that saw him!Very good, reasonably priced, pub grub with our dinner bought up to our room for us without any quibbles as restaurant was booked for a function. Good breakfast too!Free WiFi throughout a nice touch, freeview tv in room with an iPod docking station built in meant could watch Sky Go too!Room comfortable and functional with room for us all (and two bikes) but, being honest, could do with some investment to brighten it and the hallways up a bit. Could look lovely if did but felt a bit "tired".What it isn't is a Premier Inn or Travelodge but they are all the same without any character!Great for somewhere to stop over if in area, particularly if you have a dog.

Delightful Place. Atmospheric Olde Worlde black beams and low ceilings, the kind of place you'd expect to find Dick Turpin warming his hands in front of the roaring log fire in the bar.During our 2 night stay, my teen son, mother myself and our dog were all made to feel very welcome. The staff couldn't do enough and the manager especially was friendly but in a genuinely friendly way, and not just because it was part his job. The room we stayed in was lovely, clean, relaxing and comfortable, although it did get a bit hot in there and we had to use the fan a bit. The food was delicious. and the menu extensive with a really good price range. We had out evening meals there and a really big breakfast. Couldn't fault the food at all. We'd have loved to have stayed a third night but needed to get home. If ever i'm visiting The area in the future, this is the place i'll be booking

I stayed at The Roundabout Hotel for 2 nights over Christmas. It isn't luxurious (the walls between the rooms are rather thin) but the place has a well-maintained feel about it, everything in the bedroom and bathroom works well, and overall I would say it's good value for money. The log fire in bar area was particularly welcome.I would stay again and recommend the hotel to others

Staff was very friendly and we had no problem in bringing along our 2 dogs (cocker spaniels). Traditional structure, a little bit tire sometimes but bathroom was new and very good. Good table and space for our PC and bags. Good internet connection. Pub underneath was noisy (Saturday night) but at midnight it went quiet and we had a good night sleep. Breakfast in the pub (lovely decoration and space!) and very well served even for vegetarians like us. Good location for visiting Portsmouth and the Historic Dockyard. We did't like the hair-dryer because it was weak and cold. They need to improve the way complimentary tea is presented.

Very friendly staff and good food. Great that my sister and I could take her dog into the room. Very convenient for the early morning ferry but unable to get an early breakfast tray.Bathroom rather cramped and in need of some TLC. A strange intermittent buzzing noise from somewhere kept waking us up but beds very comfy. Some guests were rather noisy and inconsiderate but this is not the hotels fault.Car park a little tight and you need to get there early if you want a place.Would definitely stay again.

Hotel comfortable.. it is old so rooms are dated and a bit small, we had a triple room double bed was enormous far too big for room and a single but for 3 adults a bit small!! Breakfast was really good!! and bar menu excellent and extremely good!! Parking however is not good at all we had 4 nights there and each night was very difficult to find a space, very jammed and cars not parked properly!! All staff very helpful and friendly, really enjoyed our stay, we have one complaint, maybe not the hotels fault but they do allow pets and on one morning two dogs belonging to one guest were in the dining room at breakfast sat on the chairs being fed at the table by owner not good!!!!

We needed a triple room for 3 adults and were given the family room for 5 on the top floor, (or so it seemed!), which was very spacious and well equipped, - until we tried to take a shower in the morning and found that the plumbing in the bathroom would not deliver the water to the shower fixture.Pity, really, since we'd had a long-ish drive on (would you believe?) a HOT day, and were faced with the same on theday of our departure, and didn't have time to call down and see if it could be fixed.Other than that, a convenient location for us with a good breakfast to fuel our (hot) day.

The hotel was fine for what we needed. We were staying in Fareham as we were attending a wedding. The hotel rooms were very small especially the bathroom and they do need an updated and decorating. On the plus side the food was lovely. The staff were rushed off there feet as they were Bar staff, receptionist andcleaner but still very helpful and friendly.

This was my first trip away with my new puppy so I was nervous that somewhere "dog friendly" might not be. I needn't have worried, we were made very welcome, the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic and a bit "old fashioned" but for an overnight stop, nothing really wrong with that. I managed to find free wifi, the beer was very nice, didn't try the food but the menu looked great. Handy for Portsmouth etc and easy to find.As others have said, the roundabout location can make it a bit noisy.

Despite an initial hick up which the staff dealt with as quickly as they were able our stay was pleasant. The room clean and food very good. Even though it is situated near a roundabout - as the name indicates - it was not as noisy as we expected. As it is a very old building part of it's character comes from a lot of creaky staircases and our room, at the top of the building would not suit anyone who could not cope with them. Overall the staff we had contact with were very friendly and attentive which made for a pleasant short stay at the Roundabout Hotel.

A bit dated, perhaps, but the location is everything here - I particularly enjoy the easy access to the Fareham Creek Trail for a relaxing evening run after work. I came down to collect something to take back to my room but there was nothing readily available and I was in a hurry to leave at 7.20. It was a good job that I had a few biscuits in my car. V please that I was able to have something light to eat at dinner as I was very tired from travelling.

We apologise for letting you down for breakfast. We often make sandwiches etc for guests to take away or maybe a pre order?? would have been okay. We serve cooked breakfast items from 7am. Apart from the fact that we particularly asked for Room 22 on booking our stay and when we arrived it had been allocated to someone else we had a lovely stay. Sarah was most helpful finding us another suitable room but I do believe that if you ask for a certain room when booking it should be kept for you.

A great stay, staff very cheerful, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Only downfall was a family with three children in the room above us - the floorboards are very creaky so were woken up at 07:00am on the Sunday and the bathroom was very small. Would stay again though.

My partner, myself and our dog very much enjoyed our stay. The staff and punters were very welcoming, even when our 11 month dog Tink got in everyones way in the bar/restaurant.The meal in the evening did the job and breakfast helped us through the day.Unfortunately the hotel is situated on a very busy road which is a slight nuisance but we will still be planning to stay in the future.

Perfect stay, i used to stay in Premier Travel type of places being a travelling salesman.. until now.The staff at the Roundabout went out of their way to ensure my stay was a happy one. Everything worked perfectly in the room, wifi, shower etc. But nothing nicer after enjoying the best meal i had in months in the Restaurant with a very caring head chef, than chatting and laughing with friendly locals at the bar with the crackling fire warming my Whiskey... You just dont get this earthly feel from the large hotel chains, and to be honest when your far from home this is what you really want.Well done the Roundabout Hotel and Bar for keeping it real.Kindest RegardsSimon

A very comfortable watering-hole at which to stay. The staff were keen to be helpful, and the restaurant produced food which was excellent and appetising, with some dishes a little less usual.Quantities were good whilst not being overpowering. The manager of the bar needs to remember that dry sherry must be kept chilled, and some means found to ensure that it remains fresh.Like any wine, it will oxidise if it remains in contact with air.The renowned Vac-U-Vin device is a practical, simple and inexpensive way of ensuring that the fino remains fresh after the bottle has been opened. But, all in all, a most enjoyable overnight stay at a reasonable price, and I will return in due course.Brian

The room was great for 5 of us, I think there would even be space for a cot if needed, so ideal for larger families. It was clean & comfortable & the free wifi access was great. The restaurant was good value for lovely food, and the breakfast was great. The staff were friendly & helpful & made us feel welcome.

Good value, clean and comfortable! We booked a 5 bedded family room for one night last minute. Clean and comfortable room, en suite clean, modern and all functioned well.Included in the price was breakfast. Self serve cereal and fruit juice followed by a round of toast and a cooked breakfast of good quality sausage and bacon, two eggs (served as you like) tomato and fried bread.Yes, it is situated on a busy roundabout but being on the top floor and having windows closed we were not disturbed at night. It's site is convenient for the ferry ports.

My partner and I stayed at The Roundabout Hotel on Saturday night which was fully booked but I have to say, we were a little disappointed that the hotel room was very old fashioned, basic and tired. However, it was generally clean with spotless towels and sheets and had everything we needed for our very short stay. The lady on reception wasreally helpful and cheerful and seemed to do everything as she served our breakfast, which was fairly good, the next morning too! The rate was quite cheap in comparison to other hotels in the area so basically, you get what you pay for...!

Good clean, comfortable accommodation with friendly efficient staff and a varied restaurant menu. Would definitely stay there again. The only slight criticism is thestaffing level because one poor girl had to run the bar, be the waitress in the restaurant and deal with hotel guests checking in. Inevitably she couldn't be in all places at once so there were slight delays now and then but her lovely manner disarmed any Victor Meldrew types. All in all, very good value for money.

The rooms were very good, the meals excellent and plentiful. We had our laundry done in house, which for us, saved us having to sit in a laundromat to do our washing and spend more time looking around the marine harbour with the Mary Rose and victory, a bit tricky to find the driveway entrance especially if you are from Australia and driving through the uk

Pros : Reception was welcoming and efficient and the staff generally very pleasant and helpful. The room was more than adequate for the price and everything worked. The bed was comfortable and though the hotel is situated on a noisy roundabout, my night was quiet and undisturbed. Breakfast was cooked to order and excellent, plus a wide variety of options was available. The restaurant in the evening was fantastic, the food well cooked and plentiful and very reasonably priced. There was a great menu choice, and also a bar snack menu. I will stay here again when I have the opportunity.Cons : The accommodation is a little 'tired' and the walls seem a bit thin. Traffic noise from the road outside may be intrusive in hot weather when you need to have the window open.Overall I would say the prices reflect the level of accommodation and when you include the excellent restaurant and a great breakfast, this is a good place to stay as long as you don't expect the Ritz!

Rooms were very comfortable and clean, only thing was we could hear the tv of the adjacent room which when your trying to sleep is very annoying.Bar snack food was lovely and well priced. We didn't want to pay the prices for the a la carte menu, a lil steep tbh.Has lovely open fire near the bar, friendly staff and the drinks are cheap too!!8/10

We booked this hotel as it was listed as 'pet-friendly' and was located close to my daughter-in-law and was convenient for the M27. The room was clean, comfortable and well-equipped and, being at the back of the hotel, offered a quiet night's sleep, despite single-glazed windows. The cosy hotel bar seems popular with locals. We left too early for breakfast unfortunately, but the restaurant and bar menu looked promising. On the negative side, the room decor was looking a little tired in places, and the double duvet was only just big enough for two people.

Very good service from the young lady who acted as receptionist, barwoman and waitress. Unfortunately, everything else is extremely poor in terms of quality and experience. Room 14 mattress must have past its sell by date 20yrs ago. Throughout the night there was constant humming of machines located at the back of the hotel....this made for a poor night with long periods of being wide awake. The bathroom is very very small. My fault for not spending enough time researching.

I read some previous reviews knit picking at little things that aren't 100%, mainly to do with the decor, and yes there are a few things here and there that prevent this hotel from being considered spectacular but they in no way affected the quality of my stay there. I did, however, have a problem with figuring out how to use the shower and change the temperature, which created some hilarity and a very foggy bathroom. The staff are always friendly and polite, the rooms maintained at a good temperature and whatever people say about the decor, I personally loved the corridors, very Alice in Wonderland! The bed was comfy, the TV worked and it is by far the best value for money hotel in the area, what more do you need? I had a very pleasant stay here and will be returning again in the future. One small suggestion though, some 'do not disturb' signs would make it a lot easier for the cleaners with people like me who enjoy a lie in :)

This is a good value for money hotel. Our room was clean and comfy. Although the room and bathroom were both compact, we had a king sized bed and there was loads of wardrobe space etc. The staff were pleasant and efficient and the food was good. Would definitely go back.

We stayed for 1 night while attending a wedding in Fareham. Previous reviews had concerned me, but our room was fine for what we needed. The bathroom did smell "smokey" but the bed was comfortable. When we arrived there was just one man dealing with reception and the bar, he was very polite, asked if we would wait, showed us to our room, offered to carry our bags and rang a taxi for us.The breakfast was ok but not as good as I have had in other b&b's/hotels.But for an overnight stay it was adequate for our needs.

Stayed ay the Roundabout Hotel at the end of October 2011. We were a group of 4 adults, staying in two en-suite rooms and we chose the Roundabout for its value and relatively close proximity to Portsmouth. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and courteous. We found the atmosphere in the small bar very good and we booked a table in the restaurant. The menu was excellent and if you can't find something you like on the menu it would be a surprise! When the food was served, it was of a very high quality and there was a very good selection of vegetables. The cost was very reasonable, as were the drinks. The rooms were small yet very clean, the double bed was quite narrow (used to a king sized bed at home so no surprise there!) but it was perfectly adequate for the one night stay we booked for. Parking is a bit tight, but we were able to park out the front of the hotel which was fine. All in all, we had a great time at the Roundabout and would happily return when we visit Southampton of Portsmouth again.

Welcoming hotel. Staff very friendly and food/restaurant/bar excellent.Room was comfortable although a little dated but this did not detract from a very pleasant stay.Would certainly book again if in the area.

Positive was nice staff and pleasant room, dining-bar area attractive and dinner was first class, quite outstanding, vegetable selection cooking and presentation unbeatable. Plenty of free car parking space and despite being adjacent a busy road there was little intrusive noise. Negative is a clearer signposting required for a car from the roundabout road to the hotel entrance indicating the sharp turns required.

10 out of 10 for friendliness, but we found the room we stayed in very noisy from the road and traffic. Maybe a room the other side of the hotel would have been better.

We enjoyed our weekend stay at the RoundaboutHotel. We were quickly checked in and shown to our room. The staff we met were very pleasant and helpful .The breakfast substantial with plenty of choice.Full marks to Sophia who doubled on Checking out and Breakfast duties.Well done the kitchen staff too! Some initial confusion as to whether wewere booked in for both nights .I blame the internet!Very good value.

The hotel was nice and pleasant...but I do not think the room we stayed in was worth the money we paid for it.

We were three families staying at The Roundabout and we had a great deal of fun together and were made to feel really welcome. The food and the service were excellent and we would all like to give extra special thanks to Kim who had to put up with our little Welsh and Scottish ways. She worked so hard over the weekend to host us. The rooms were very comfortable, but were a little warm. Lovely outside beer garden and very friendly bar atmosphere. Many thanks x

Clean and tidy and convenient for the ferry. Grateful for bacon sandwiches in lieu of breakfast owing to early start. Good value and enjoyable late evening meal.Expected traffic noise from hotel address but actually heard nothing.

Room comfortable and clean if a little shabby but really really hot overnight and having to have window open meant loads of road noise - maybe fan would be good idea.Breakfast tasty but disappointed to hear you had run out of sausages! Staff friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel, clean tidy and helpful staff. This was our first visit, and there were no problems.Easy to get to, car park small, but good location and walking distance to town.Saw bad reviews in the past, but our stay was pleasent, room had eveything you need, and breakfast was very good (and plenty of it). A wee bit pricey perhaps for what it is, but one of the cheaper options in the area. Overall a nice hotel and no complaints!

The staff were great, very friendly, helpful and wanted to ensure we had everything we needed. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was freshly prepared when ordered and the service was excellent. The hotel is well situated for the annual Fareham and Gosport folk festival. Thankyou for a lovely stay.
